Sanderson to Seminole Canyon State Historical Park
Tonight we are camped at a State Park where there are indian petroglyphs. I hope to be able to take a trip to see them while Paul is biking tomorrow. The day started out sunny and nice this morning. I was able to help out another cross country biker this morning by giving him a cup of soap for his laundry and letting him borrow Pauls bike pump. He told me he has written a couple of books that he is trying to get published. Unfortunately I don't know his name so I will never know if I read one he has written. We had a nice visit. Paul and I met in Langtry. This is the town that Judge Roy Bean lived in and was the law in these parts, at least so the story goes. They have a nice visitor center there with nice cold water and clean rest rooms. Paul and I stopped at a little store on hwy 90 where the guy sells sandwiches that he grills the meat for out in the yard. He only sells one kind and you get the condiments out of a little fridge and put them on your sandwiche yourself. It has one table that seats 4. I asked if a class of water came with the sandwiche and he said "no we don't have water here" I noticed he had water to sell of course. Still the sandwich was good. Paul fought the winds quite a bit today so he didn't get into camp until after 5:00. I was just about to go looking for him. I was glad to see him turn in to camp. I checked the temp in the truck and it was 91 degrees. It didn't feel that hot in the shade but of course Paul was not riding in the shade. We had canned soup and toasted cheese sandwiches for dinner. I am going to restock up on food tomorrow in Del Rio. We are excited about getting to Del Rio because then we will turn East instead of going futher south. Paul rode 80 miles today and the only town we saw was Langtry with about 800 people. We stopped at a picnic area to discuss our lunch plans and someone had cleaned out their horse trailer and it smelled of manure so bad I felt like I smelled of manure all day so I had to take a shower tonight. It felt good. As we are parked here we can hear the wind blowing around our trailer. I hope for Pauls sake it dies down before morning or changes to a more favorable direction. I am sure glad I have air conditioning in my truck.
