Navasota to Double Lake Rec Area
Last night we were camped right by an airport and at a city park campground. During the day I saw a few small planes take off but not many. It was more an airstrip than an airport. Then in the evening we had all these cars come in and drop off kids to practice soccer at the park. As the evening wore on the wind blew from the south and brought humidity with it. At least it wasn't too hot and the breeze felt good. Today has been what seems to us like very humid. I guess for the locals not so much. Tomorrow night a front is supposed to come through with dryer air. I must admit I prefere that. I left camp at about 8:30 this morning and got to this camp at about 10:00. It was actually a very pretty drive. We have left the arid Eastern part of Texas far behind. today we drove through various small towns and forrests of trees. It looked to me like they were ponderosa pine and oak trees. Paul got in about 1:30 and we took a nice stroll around the lake. Texas is in the middle of a drought and the lake was down about 5 feet from where it should be this time of the year. They have extreme fire danger warnings everywhere. If a fire should start the trees would go up like matches. I hope they get rain soon, as soon as we leave. There is a nice breeze tonight and we are sitting out side on our chairs to do our computer work. We tried to eat lunch outside but the flies drove us back in so I guess we will cook and eat inside. As long as we don't have food they are not too bad.
