Fort Davis State Park to Sanderson

Well another day on the road. Yesterday started out windy and cold but Paul perservered. He stopped for a hot chocolate at a restaurant on the way. Not even the motercycles wanted to leave shelter. When he left the weather was pretty good and he only wore a windbreaker and nothing on his bare legs, bare fingers and short socks. It soundls like he was really cold for the first part of the day. Later it warmed up a bit but never really got warmer than 62 degrees. I waited until about 1:00 then left camp to catch up to him. We had lunch at a nice little picnic area up in the mountains. Last night we camped at Fort Davis State Park. When we got up this morning it was 44 degrees and we ran the heater to take the chill off our trailer. Paul rode 114 miles today. There were no mountains to climb and we had a drop in elevation of about 2000 ft over the course of the day so the traveling was easier for Paul and me. This afternoon it was about 75 degrees when I pulled into camp here at Sanderson. I had a nice visit with another camper in the rv lot. I think her husband might be part of the law inforcement in this area. We met a man who is riding his bike the opposite direction from us. He said that our ride tomorrow will take us through an area where we will see many border patrol people. We have gone through a couple of border patrol stops on our trip so far. I will be glad to turn East and get away from the border. That will happen Thursday. The landscape is getting to have a little more green. I am not sure if it is because more trees are leafing out or the topography is changing a bit. There are still many catcus plants around, in fact Paul noticed a sign that said catus center of Texas. Today I paid 3.90 for gas. It has been as low as 3.50 but we are in a very remote area with cities about every 50 miles. When I say cities that is really stretching what a city is. The one we had lunch in today didn't really even have a grocery store. The town of Sanderson is supposed to have 861 people. I never realized just how big this country is.
